We are always looking at efficient ways to extend healthcare access to our patients. We already have a range of appointments: pre-bookable and same day, bookable on-line, via the phone system, via reception or email. We are now running a pilot in June to invite patients who need to be seen the same day to attend a walk-in clinic, at the practice. You will be triaged by a member of our healthcare team and seen by our Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Paramedic Practitioner (PP). In the event that GP support is needed, the on-call GP will be available.
When will the clinics be available? Tuesday mornings only (during the pilot).
How long will the pilot run for? Initially the month of June. Feedback will be sought from patients who use the service.
Do I need to pre-book an appointment? No this is a walk-in clinic. Patients will be asked to attend the practice between 8.30 – 10.30 (anyone arriving after 10.30 will be asked to book an appointment in the usual way). After being booked in you will be asked to wait for a member of our healthcare team to triage your same day healthcare needs. This will include a set of observations so we can record information for the NP/PP who will see patients in order (with the exception of any emergencies).
Will I wait long? It is not possible to predict how long you may wait. No one should wait any longer than necessary, but given this is a walk-in clinic any waiting time will be determined by the number of patients waiting.
