Repeat Medication & Patient Compliance Policy
- Effective Date: June 2026
- Purpose: To ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based prescribing for all registered patients.
Why Regular Health Checks are Essential
At Holbrooks Health Team, your safety is our priority. Certain medications require regular monitoring—such as blood tests, blood pressure checks, and physical health reviews—to ensure they remain safe and effective for you. These checks allow us to detect any potential side effects early and adjust your treatment as necessary. To provide safe, high-quality care, we must ensure these clinical requirements are met.
The Process
- Notification: When your blood tests or physical health checks (e.g., height, weight, BP, foot/eye checks, asthma/COPD reviews) are due, our team will contact you directly via your preferred method.
- Action Required: You are expected to contact the practice and book your required appointment within one week of receiving this notification. You can also book the appointment via the self-book link sent to your email / mobile.
- Continued Compliance: If you do not book within one week, or book and then fail to attend your appointment, we will be required to transition your repeat medication supply to a restricted frequency to ensure your ongoing safety.
Policy Enforcement for Missed Appointments
If the required health checks are not booked within one week of you being contacted by us, the following procedure will be applied to your repeat medication supply:
- Stage 1 (Initial Restriction): Your monthly supply will be reduced to a weekly supply.
- Stage 2 (Secondary Restriction): After a further two weeks, your supply will be reduced to a daily supply.
- Stage 3 (Final Cessation): The daily supply will be issued for a maximum of three days only.
Following this, the practice will be unable to safely prescribe your medication until the necessary health checks are completed.
How to Avoid Service Disruption
Please respond promptly to all contact from the practice regarding your health reviews. If you are struggling to attend or have concerns, please speak with our reception or clinical team as soon as possible so we can support you in maintaining your medication continuity.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide safe and effective healthcare.
